Help me with the Renee Sweeney murder?

how come in the Renee Sweeney murder they did not run the sales records under people who bought diaper pins and people who bought high seirra jackets and whoever bought both take into questioning and or be on the look out for this man who on the night of the murder was: white male, in his early 20s, with short dark hair, and stands between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet. He was wearing glasses, jeans, running shoes, as well as a grey-hooded top. He abandoned a lightweight jacket and white cotton gloves a short distance from the scene. if you know any thing please help and reply to this and don't let this guy get away.
