Does it matter what a person profession when running for president?

My previous question, whether it should be illigal for people who work for the media, then running for election. Most people answered no. So, if it doesn't matter, why so much focus on the personal life? The quality I look for when voting is whether this person will be a good representative for my community as a whole. This community including many factions. I will trust that representive will act appropriately when speaking on my community's behalf. This person must do their best to ensure that our community survive both financially and healthily. Also, this person must be able to prepare and acknowledge the need for globalization in my community.
